This two-and-a-half-day conference will offer premier programming on key topics as well as networking and social events allowing attendees the opportunity to build lasting personal and professional relationships with major industry stakeholders.

All reservations must be guaranteed by a valid major credit card, which must be supplied at the time the reservation is made.  Regardless of how the reservation is made, any guaranteed reservation not cancelled 72-hours prior to arrival will be subject to one night’s room and tax cancellation fee.  In addition, attendee that fails to arrive on the scheduled arrival date will be considered a “No Show” and a charge of one night’s room and tax will be posted to the individual attendee’s credit card on file.

Upon check-in, each guest will be required to present a valid credit card, on which an amount of sufficient pre-authorization can be obtained to cover the room, tax charges and possible miscellaneous charges.

  • Mention the Geoprofessional Business Association or GBA and the GBA’s 2020 Fall Conference to be quoted the group rates.
  • An on-line link for room reservations will be available in June 2020.
  •  Secure room reservation early:  GBA’s cut-off date is Tuesday, September 29, 2020…. Once GBA’s room block is filled the hotel and GBA cannot guarantee availability of guest rooms at the GBA group rate.
  •  Pre/Post Room Nights:  Limited guest rooms may be available for up to 2 days pre/post the official conference dates of October 22-24, 2020 at the hotel based on availability at the time reservations are made and at the hotel’s discretion.   If you plan to extend your stay prior to or post the official conference dates, please contact the hotel as soon as possible for best availability.
  • Hotel Reservation Changes and Cancellations:  The Hyatt Regency Minneapolis Hotel has a 72-hour room reservation cancellation policy.   Room reservation cancellations received less than 72-hours prior to arrival will be subject to one night’s room/tax cancellation.
  • Please Note: In-order-to minimize any charges to you, your firm, or to GBA, if you need to cancel your room reservation, please do so in a timely manner directly with the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis Hotel so that the guest room nights can be re-sold to other GBA guests.  If you have questions, contact GBA staff – Barb ([email protected]) or Sara ([email protected]) even if you have to cancel late so that GBA can try to assign your guest room to someone else.
  • Check-in / Check-out Times:  Check-in time is 3:00 PM; check-out time is 12:00 PM. If you plan to arrive earlier than 3:00PM, call the hotel directly on your arrival day and ask the front desk attendant if there are any rooms available allowing you to check-in early. The Geoprofessional Business Association and the Omni Louisville Hotel cannot guarantee check-in before 3:00 PM. Requests for late check-out on your departure day may be limited and is at the discretion of the Hotel.
  •  Early Departure Fee/Policy:   The Hyatt Regency Minneapolis has an Early Departure Fee/Policy; i.e., if you reserve to depart on the 24th, but leave a day early, you will be charged for the night you “missed” at the group room rate plus tax, unless you make arrangements with the hotel’s front desk manager in advance.  Emergency and other special circumstance situations will be reviewed by the hotel on a case by case basis.
  • Beware of unauthorized hotel booking and housing agencies (Poachers):   GBA is not affiliated or contracted with any outside hotel contracting company. Nicollet Mall is known to be downtown’s core shopping and entertainment area. Remodeled in 2017, it has become a one-stop destination for both workers and residents of the area. IDS Crystal Court was based after a historic Italian piazza. Midtown Global Market is a vibrant cultural center where the local community gathers. Occupying the historic Sears Roebuck and Co building, it is home to over 45 businesses which span 22 cultures, providing a global experience to visitors. With a variety of tastes, retail stores, and music and dance programs, over 1.5 million patrons visit Midtown Global Market each year.

Guthrie Theater is known for allowing exception artists to explore both classical and contemporary plays while connecting to the community. They are deeply rooted in the Twin Cities and have been since being founded in 1963. From well-known productions such as West Side Story to more modern stories, there is an amazing variety of art to experience when visiting the Guthrie.

The Minneapolis Institute of Art covers nearly 8 acres and is a free fine art museum that allows photography of its personal collection. Featuring pieces from Vincent Van Gogh and Henri Matisse, this museum was founded in 1883 and has been adding to their exceptional collection since. The institute also has a number of outdoor exhibits which are great for enjoying on beautiful summer days in the Twin Cities.

Mill City Museum was built within the ruins of a flagship mill of what would later become General Mills. It was the largest and most technologically advanced flour mill in the world when it was completed in 1880. With everything from a museum to a farmers’ market to city tours, it is a great way for anyone from a single traveler to a family to spend the day.

Visit the Weisman Art Museum at the University of Minnesota to see contemporary art and the work of 20th century American artists such as George O’Keeffe and Marsden Hartley. Admission is free.

Fort Snelling was a United States military fortification located at the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers. This National Historic Landmark is available to visit daily and features experiences from group tours to special exhibits.

Overlooking the Mississippi River in the downtown riverfront district, St. Anthony Main boasts the oldest brick and stone buildings in Minneapolis. Along with your “trip back in time” walking the cobblestone streets, enjoy several restaurants, a coffee shop, and a 5-screen movie theater or one of the dozens of festivals and events held throughout the year.   Directions from hotel to St. Anthony Main

One of the most distinctive cathedrals in the U.S., The Cathedral of St. Paul   sits atop Summit Hill overlooking downtown St. Paul. Tours are offered.

Built in 1905, The Basilica of St. Mary is the first basilica established in the United States. The church features the Basilica Cathedral Choir which is a 90-voice auditioned choir each Sunday. Each summer, the church also is the venue for the Basilica Block party music festival.

Mark Twain made it famous in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, but the Mississippi River has been a major attraction since it was first discovered. A refund (less $125/per person administrative fee) will be given to individuals whose cancellations are received by 5:00PM Eastern Time, Friday, September 25, 2019. For cancellations received after that date, but not later than 5:00PM Eastern Time, Friday, September 25, 2020, the cancellation fee will be $250/per person, for administration, food service and related guarantee charges that GBA will have to absorb. No refund or credit may be given after 5:00PM on Friday, October 9, 2020.

Please note: GBA may charge an individual whatever GBA has to pay the hotel (in attrition fees) if you fail to cancel a room reservation in a timely manner and GBA is unable to assign the room to someone else. Be sure to notify Barb ([email protected]) or Sara ([email protected]) even if you have to cancel late so that GBA can at least try to mitigate any additional charges.
