Joel G. Carson is the Geoprofessional Business Association’s Executive Director. He leads,directs, and manages the association’s operations to achieve its mission, vision and strategic plan, and he acts as the primary liaison for the organization with external parties and the public. Prior to being selected as GBA’s Executive Director, Joel Carson was a practicing geoprofessional consultant for more than 25 years.

Barb joined the GBA staff in 2012 after more than 20 years in senior conference planning positions with association-, corporate-, government-, and medical-related organizations. Barb operated her own meeting planning firm and has successfully planned over 1,000 events with 20 to 2,000 participants during her extensive career. At GBA, Barb is responsible for planning and managing all GBA conferences. When not working, Barb enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.

Phil is GBA’s longest-serving staff member, having been with the GBA staff over 15 years. He handles GBA’s accounting department. Phil has served as Treasurer for his church for over 20 years as well as volunteering for other church duties. He lives in Upper Marlboro, MD, with his wife and young son. In addition, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.

Sara Menase joined the GBA staff in May 2010 and has managed professional development and other programs. She is also in charge of membership services, assists in meeting preparations and manages other day-to-day operations of GBA. Sara has an extensive background in non-profit administration, office management and bookkeeping. Before joining GBA, she worked in other non-profit associations. Sara earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in social and behavioral sciences from the University of Maryland. In her spare time she enjoys listening to music, getting together with friends and family, going to movies, concerts, museums and being outdoors.

Dina Dina took on the role of committee coordinator in January of 2022 to provide support to GBA’s committees and develop and implement effective strategies and procedures for continued success. She has (and will continue to) provided marketing and meeting planning assistance for our conferences since 2017. Her work with GBA is part-time, but she’s full of ideas for how to continue GBA’s success, sharing insights and best practices from her other clients. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in public relations from the University of Florida (with an accounting minor) and has provided marketing, meeting planning, and project management consulting services to a variety of industries for more than 25 years. Besides her work, Dina loves riding her bike, hanging with her kitties, and repurposing/recycling/rejuvenating pretty much anything.
